Summer 2019 Courses

  I’m planning out a couple of new exciting courses for summer 2019, aimed at different people interested in comics. Please register your interest using the form below to be first in line for news on both once they are officially launched.

Comical Animal is looking to be a 4-day residency focused on creating anthropomorphic comics. aimed at recent graduates, illustrators and cartoonists beginning a career in comics, and more established artists keen to immerse themselves in funny animal activities and stimuli. The course will be led by myself and other professional comic illustrators, with a variety of fun and intensive sessions both studio-based and outdoors. Held in the beautiful High Peak district of Derbyshire, lunch and refreshments will be provided, and a range of accommodation options made available.

Create Comics summer workshops will be aimed at young people excited about drawing, cartooning and creating stories with words and pictures. In 3-day workshops, one for 7 to 11 year olds and one for 12 to 18’s, all the basics of making comics will be explored with fun drawing games and activities indoors and out. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Working individually and collaboratively, participants will create finished comics that demonstrate their new-found skills and ideas. To be held in Manchester city centre and the High Peak.
